No idea how to do this?
« on: September 09, 2011, 03:12:14 PM »

I am playing my favourite bands cd (It is nice to be fan for change !) and when I inserted the disk Windows 7 threw up a run xxxxxxx.exe and then a the bands graphics appeared in a flash player with a small video window playing a 9 minute video from a live gig they played.

It sure is nice to be a fan but how does one make a disk with an .exe for a flash video in it.

CD extra/cd enhanced?

I get a feeling it is quite easy with the right software.

cheers

Google autorun. It's basically an enhanced CD with a bit of code that tells your computer to fire off a specific program when installed. Only works on a PC.

Ok thanks will look into this stuff.

I thought I could never be a real fan bhaving produced my own music for along while then getting into audio engineering professionally a long while back but this is one band where I am immersed like a brainwashed teen and I love it. 8)

cheers

What band is it?

Well, this has gotten a lot easier with pretty much universal formats and capable computers; i.e. very broad & easy compatibility.
Still, to produce a CD-extra mutlimedia part well, there's a bit of a learning curve, even today; and graphics & menus can be quite time consuming. I still leave it to my multimedia guy.

Yup : Blue book if the session is closed (multi-session)

Yellow/red book if it's mixed mode.

You can do it cross platform (including intel / PPC) , but you have to make the content twice. (well export the content twice .. there's also some funny permission tricks to get right).

I did these in college ... thought it was the coolest thing ever, and would have a  booming business. umm. . .  I don't do them anymore.

If you really want to get into it ... Buy Macro-media Director and read up on 'Lingo'. There's a couple Xtras you'll need ... but you can make cross platform content (interactive) with the best of them that way ... burning the multi-session disc is easy. It's what content to put on that second session that's the hard part. (oh yea ... and support).
