Interesting.

I kind of wish CD's had a visual component to them, that way I could understand what they're singing.

As a kid (and for years after) I thought the Queen song was, "Another one rides the bus".  :-\

Makes me wonder about all those mastering studios that put large video monitors and fill the screen with an array of meters for the clients.

A very enlightening video.

We already know that ~critical listening~ is King.

Music and audio... it's an ear thing.

Occasionally referring to a meter or analyzer... when needed.

Although we've been over this topic many times on the forums,

it's always a good reminder.

That's pretty weird.  More disturbing to me is that I've probably been singing the wrong lyrics....how embarrassing.

If you ever get the chance, go hear Jim Johnston speak about audio perception. The ear is very easy to fool.

Thanks for the education!
Just made a surround mix of a solo chello SACD production. When I balanced the center channel with my eyes closed I would put it much louder then when I was looking at the center speaker.
With eyes open it just folds into the speaker sooner... maybe because the brain knows that black thing is the source?

btw, I'm waiting for the first mockup video on youtube actually making Queen sing "another one fights the fuzz" :-))

Cheers, Bastiaan

I saw this uite some time ago, I wondered if this relates more to speech and language/ visual communication cues processing than music.
