I'm not disputing that Nora Jones might be a really nice person. Or that she might have inherited some musical genes from her father (who did not raise her). Or that some of her sidemen have might have some chops. Yadda, yadda.
What should be discussed amongst music fans is the blandness of everything she has released. It's music-lite for people who want pleasant background noise while they shop at the mall or have a coffee at Starbucks. It's fake jazz for people who are either too old to rock or never liked the ruckus in rock, but have never cultivated any interest or educated themselves about jazz or other "serious" musical forms like classical.
Nora Jones is the ultimate sell-out. She's smart enough to know that she's serving up bland wallpaper music to people who are utterly clueless about real art.
She's doing it strictly for the moola. The big push (60 Minutes, etc.) is an attempt to get aging boomers off their asses and into record stores. Nora Jones is one of the record companys' last hopes to get boomers to spend some of their cash.
