When I started reading your forum about 5 years ago, your posts lead me to believe that you didn't have a room to work in and that your 2" tape machine, which was in storage and needed a little work, was your main music gear asset .....

move calendar ahead 5 years..........

Now you have your custom built mix room, a full tilt PT rig, and you're a record making mix-machine with clients beating your doors down! (at least that's the way it sounds to me)

What I'm really trying to say is: Congratulations.  It's cool to see someone think about where they want to end up, make a plan, work the plan, and have the plan work out!

(Even if you have succumbed to the dark side! he he he!)

greg, i truly wish i used this thing more.  as it stands, it's a boat anchor and as good as it sounds, some one needs to be using it who still uses tape.

flood, you are exactly right.  in 5 years i went from renting studios making pennies after the band paid the day rate for the room, to where i'm at now.  crazy to think it was only 5 years.

and 5 years ago i was a flag waving PT hater.

HAHAHAHA

now, i don't even own a console..........

people who use tape, please come get this thing, it's cheap!!!!!!!!!!!  and i want some one to USE IT!!!!!!!

Recently, I spent 5 days tracking to 2" 16 track, and then a sixth day transfering everything into PT. It was interesting to hear the difference.

J,  are you getting session files like that much lately? What about the next Secret Club LP? Are you going to use tape?

Or is it a secret?

i know a few people here who are doing that. some bands don't want to spend the money on tape, but they'll pay $40 to rent the tape for the session (which is then dumped). After a few uses, a new reel is bought to replace and the used reel sold

I made a lot of records at the Record Plant L.A. in the mud '70's on those machines. Their nickname was "Jaws"!
