It's probably past time for the roof to be re-surfaced.

they not only invented everything ELSE in rock/pop... this reminded me they may also be the first to put stickers on their bass.

The Beatles were certainly innovators in all areas.  While that makes them true pioneers, that had to make them royal pains in the ass for everyone around them!

From the book accompanying the original record (in England anyway), you can read Paul Mc saying he wanted to do something daring, outrageous and possibly illegal by just showing up and playing somewhere.  He *wanted* the last scene to be them getting arrested.  He got some of what he wanted...

Inside the "nice guy" is a bit of a shit-disturber!

Thanks Randy (for reminding me how friggin old I am LOL)

Paul the shit-disturber:  Yes, George Martin said that while John Lennon would go home to the wife and read a book, Paul would head out on the town and raise hell all night long.... contrary to what you would suspect. (Yes John did his share too)

How many other bands have ripped off the "concert on a roof" thing?  U2, Bif Naked, more?

It is three steps past amazing that this happened 38 years ago.

If someone would have been on the roof talking about something that happened 38 years prior, they would have been talking about 1931!

Hmmm.  That's is the sound of "When I'm 64" and how old would they all be if they were all alive today?

My brain is about to 'slode!

the part I admire the most about them.

notice in one part where John (and maybe George as well) is having some trouble and there's no sound coming out, and he goes over and starts tinkering in the back of his amp and George starts playing more to cover until John  comes back in...

if that happened today to say, U-2 or ANYONE, a host of roadies would descend to fix things on the spot AND it would never make the film.

they were so UN-coddled relatively.

Jefferson Airplane was the first major rock group to play on a roof in N.Y. in 1968
so the Beatles were not innovators in everything
Jefferson Airplane were inspire by french film producer Jean-Luc Godard
I can't remember who(from the Beatles camp) attended that J.A. concert on the roof

but they I understand that the Beatles made it more popular

Paul paying the super bowl a few years back was incredible. then the stones butchered their performance the next year. I mean the stones are cool and all, but you can tell who can actually write songs.

if you go search you tube for beatles rooftop,  there is a nice 3 part series. The audio gets a little off, which drives me up the wall, but amazing to listen to in the background. I was trying to explain to people at work today how unbelievable it was that the beatles from start to finish were together ~7 years. that's 7 years from a dingy club in liverpool to the rooftop. i know i'm geeking out here on beatles porn, but it still blows my mind.

in the only copy of the "Let It Be" movie I have seen, the audio gets progressively off, by the end (the rooftop concert) it's way off. these clips were probably taken from the same bootleg. still amazing. although, the movie itself is kind of sad in parts.
