Acoustic fabric?
« on: January 29, 2007, 11:08:43 AM »

Ok, so the measurements are done and treatment has been suggested.

One of the things I'm doing is putting superchunks in each corner behind the speakers (front wall). We calculated that in order to get the best results and smoothest response, I should cut the corner by approx 2m, giving 1m from the hypotenuse to the apex (inside corner).

Fine, no problem. However, it has been a problem finding a fabric that is 2m in width (almost everything stops at 1.4m or 1.5m), especially something with an open weave or light enough that air passes easily, yet is opaque enough to hide the pile of isolation in the corner. Embarassed

Suggestions?

Make it look like a Mondriaan. That way you can use smaller pieces.

<Ahem...> <cough...> eh, actually, I'd rather not. Rolling Eyes

But thanks for the suggestion.

Anyone else?

In the US many people use http://www.guilfordofmaine.com/  They have fabric that wide. An interior designer who works on corporate projects would probably know a local source. Or you could divide the area...but you don't like that.

Both Guildford of Maine and Knoll textiles sell very popular "Panel Fabrics" that come in 66" Widths.. We typically call that 60" usable, which is under 2M but pretty close... also, you could just put a seem in the middle and trim it out! That's how I would handle it in our designs.

Inexpensive solution: add a small middle bar to the frame so you'll
just need 2x 1m width.

Add one bar behind the fabric, nail the 2 halfs from the frame
to the middle bar and put some nice looking bar in front of the
seam.

Looks nice and works perfectly.
