Pres for existing Mics?
« on: January 08, 2007, 04:08:18 am »

I have the following mics:

2-Sony ECM-23F's (electret condensor)
2-Sony ECM-64P's (electret condensor)
1-Shure SM81
1-Audio Technica PRO4L
1-Old Sony Cardiod Mic

Am gonna get a 2Ch or 4Ch Pre-amps for them.

considering:

Hardy M-2, Phoenix DRS, Toft ATC2 or Fletcher.

Can anyone tell me which pres wld work best with those mics?

thanks

Any good pre, that YOU like, works with every mic and on every instrument.

Mics and instruments don't "determine" mic pres.

I'm glad someone said this...   There has been a slew of "what pre for a 414" kind of questions lately.  I find questions like that to be very bizarre.  The only time it really matters, and only slightly, is with ribbons or other impedance matching issues.

I'd find a mic pre that you like, and buy as many as you need.

I think you should spend money on some better mics first. That would be more cost effective.
