V676: 34db to line loud thump noise
« on: November 30, 2006, 11:42:03 PM »

Hi Oliver.
On a V676, is there a way to eliminate the loud thump noise that happens when you go from the 34db point to the line level point on the gain knob?

Thanks

Hello Mumbles,

biggest problem with most V676 are that the main switches are in pretty bad shape, other than the V276 and the V376 that used metal/ceramic(later epoxy) switches, the 676 used state of the art plastic(acrylic) as an main gain switch. It is pretty hard to impossible to find a replacement and repair is not possible.
There is the possibility to use the remote switch option, but than again you have to disconnect the fine adjust switch that is responsible for the main part of the switching noise.

Hope that helps,

We are so advanced, that we can develop technology that can determine how much damage the earth has taken from the development of that technology.

So, you think that it's a bad switch?
It's odd that both modules (that I own) do it, both on that one interval.  It almost seems like that's "just the way they are".
