QuietRock & QuietWood panels, is this stuff good?
« on: November 27, 2006, 10:55:19 AM »

They make some inpressive claims about their products,
QuietRock 530 8X better than standard dry wall.
anyone have any experience with QuietRock or QuietWood.

I would use the QuietRock over existing dry wall and the
QuietWood over existing sub flooring.

Jack,

There are a couple of other post re Quietrock.. check out a search...

The short answer is that if you are restricted to building a single layer wall, and can pony up the high costs for these products, than you can get a boost on the performance with a single layer

For a more traditional studio isolation wall, we still use multiple layers of standard 5/8" drywall and MDF or plywood and sometimes Sound Deadening Board.... on a pure mass basis it's a better solution (and less expensive)...

I haven't really checked the specs on the Quietwood panels....

Bottom Line: Caveat Emptor.. let the buyer beware.. most products that make outrageous claims always make me wary...
