My pet peeve, when it comes to grammar, is the confusing of plurals   and posesssives when it comes to the letter S.

As in: "There are many dog's at the park today."

Noah

what bother ME is "THERE'S as many dogs..."

Or how about using the plural conjugation of a verb derived from a collective noun.

e.g.

Where are the band?

as opposed to

Where is the band?

I'm actually all FOR regional accents.. and not a big fan of Recieved British Pronunciation.
I think it's healthy that the Beeb has embraced regional voices.

but GRAMMAR shouldn't be 'flexible'

Neither should spelling!

I can spell... it's my TYPING that's suspect.

it's why my budding secretarial career was tragically cut short.

I'm debating with myself.  Should I have said, "Nor should spelling!" above instead?

In Iowa (pronounced ah-owah by the locals)  Root is pronounced like book.  Them ruuts is gonna need rain.

there was a movie with Steve Martin (Spanish Prisoner?) where someone opens a swiss bank account for him in order to incriminate him in a conspiracy.  Worth watching.

If you have a swiss bank account, the IRS/feds do not know how much you  have in it, they only know you have one, and if it was opened at the time of another major money transaction with any potential link to you, then they get suspicious.
