A New Massive Passive EQ
« on: November 09, 2006, 04:14:09 AM »

A little brother for Massive Passive. Did you know about it?

I'm wondering what "half the price" means. If it's right this might be my first analog eq...

Solid state EQ that has two channels but only 2 bands per channel. The good news is, you can route the output of channel 1 into channel 2 which will give you a 4 band single channel EQ. There is no iron in this EQ but a sweet gentle eq that like it's bigger brother just makes everything sound better.

Two bands, for sweetening, could just be enough, as I'll usually choose a lin-phase for removing things.

The EQ will surely sound good, but you obviously realise that this has many fewer features than the M-P.

I suppose I do.
Another candidate could be the new API EQ, but don't know anything about its price.

The new API is about $2500 from Vintage King here in the states. Not sure what that means for those of you in the EU. I'll be getting one of those early next year.

I considered the Mini before I was decided to get my Massive Passive, but ultimately decided I wanted the full EQ. No regrets! For the filters alone, I think it's worth the extra cash. I did pinch a few pennies by buying the non-mastering edition. Not a real issue, as all the frequencies are clickable and the other controls have more than enough labeling to allow for accurate logging and recall.

I agree with you Carl.
