I particularly noted the sentence, "Audiophiles should find plenty to rejoice about!". I wonder who they spoke to. One also wonders if one can actually turn all this shit off completely and what effect this will have on home mastering and confusion about reasons for sound quality degradation.

I wonder how many audio driver layers are now to be negotiated by developers of serious DAW software. Its a wait and see exercise.

Don't feel bad. We just bought a new Sony "microcomponent hi fi" for our bedroom. It defaults to lots of compression with a fancy name.
