Looking for service manual or info on yamaha NS W-2 sub
« on: August 28, 2006, 01:16:57 PM »

My buddy found a pawn shop yamaha ns w-2

The speaker is fine but the crossover is fried and has had work in the past.

Anyone able to look up the cap and resistor values for me?

Its a simple passive network, looks like 2 caps and 5 resistors. Soldered directly to the same mini board as the speaker terminals.

I cant read values thru the burned char though.

I found a reprint service manual online but $25 is more than he paid for the speaker.

if you burnt the cross over compnents, what would cause that? probably have a problem with the amp portion as well. make sure you dont have gobs of DC going into the xover.

It was purchced used. with "pre-burnt" components.

My guess is someone had it hooked up wrong and fried the 1/4 watt resistors with too much power from their crappy home threater rig.

It appears to run as a passive speaker level cross over,Sending the above cross over signal along to the ns-10's or whater passive speakers you use. The lows isolates the L+R and sums then sends that to the internal mono amp to drive the 10 inch inside.

I found a couple vendors on line with service manuals, no return email from them on price though.
