I'm a vegetarian but I'd gladly hunt and kill him to serve to relatives.

This is something an 18 year-old does.  This is just gay...

If he doesn't change his story they are going to nail him for perjury.

But he will change his story.

As far as the death of Cubby is concerned no matter how lame-o this hick is...

What's the big deal?

Is this somehow different than slitting a hog's throat and pulling out the entrails and feeding them to the other pigs?

Sausage anyone?

Kev Baby, what does being a veggie have to do with killing this bear?

There are more wild animals killed raising crops than eating a bear over three months.

Please be gentle as I am a dolt and have learned a lot in this here saloon.

Bagged a buck in Czech on Thursday btw....I had a salad and spaghetti afterwards....store bought vittles...

I'd have more respect for the guy if he shot John Karr while he was penned up.

Erm, well, you see, I'm not a rabid PETA fanatic, I'm fine with people doing their own thing when it comes to religion, killing things and whatever, but, that dude basically shot the family pet with a bow and arrow. See, that's an act of little weenie cowardace at best, but most likely an act of a deranged mind.

The guy is a jackass and although i don't like the idea of eating the flesh of things with legs, I'd gladly serve that dork up on a BBQ platter for his relatives and family pets to eat.

This seems like a classic example of my yet to be famous comment that to be successful at something does not mean that you are not a complete ass at real life.  I would like Powder to meet this guy.  And to meet any hunters for that matter.  People do not understand the terror associated with termination of life.   Not to mention the pain.  I am not a PETA either, since they seem kinda weird.  But I like their premise.  I did watch "Meet your Meat" and felt super sickened by what I saw happening in stockyards and slaughterhouses.

Funny how people get aggravated by the death of one type of mammal and cook up another type without question.  Oh well, I guess most of us are conditioned by good childhood memories of burger treats.

My favorite people are vegetarians that wear leather and vegans who never give thought to designing themselves a balanced diet. Then there's people who fuss over a health conscious diet who smoke tobacco.

Life is full of contradictions.

Do we let some people shoot deer or let the deer starve due to over population? Is it ok for my granny to shoot squirrels out of the big walnut tree in her front yard with a shotgun and cook it up with some okra or should she drive to town and by some rice and beans for her protein? What's the general consensus on road kill? I've had pheasant ala tar, not my first choice for protein, but it works in a pinch.

I don't build cars, is it ok if I drive one? I don't kill animals, is it ok if I eat one?

I wear leather but am not a meat eater, except when it is in poor form for me not to eat what is put in front of me, IE if I am invited to dinner and they had no idea that I did not choose to eat meat.  In that case to avoid being an asshole, I eat it and shut up.  I don't feel responsible to account to anyone for these choices.  I stopped eating meat when I saw the way animals were treated in slaughterhouses.  That was my choice.  But I know that whether or not I wear leather meat-eaters will continue to eat meat and supply the world with leather.

They say that kosher meat is well-cared for and slaughtered with minimal pain.  I could at least consider this way of meat-packing, if I really missed it, which I do not anymore.

But I would rather eat a few unsavory humans than some poor cow. Razz

There was a movie called "Ravished"? with Jeffrey Jones about this.   Funny show, in a dark way.

Hahahaha.

I'm a pescatarian so I've drawn a different kind of line and yes, it's more about the farming industry than anything. I used to play on the eastern shores of Maryland quite a bit and found it odd that the chicken capital of the USA had pubs and sports bars without nary an oreder of chicken fingers. The people there knew the deal, hell, the smell of a rendering plant will make even the most die hard flesh eating human wince.

So while it's easy to label a leather wearing veggie a hypocrite, at least the hypocrite isn't chock full of nasty hormones, preservatives and all of that other steroid crap they give to animals while they grow insanely fast and shit all over each other.

Anywho, I only eat farmed human, the wild ones are too gamey.

Oh I get it. It's find to support the live animal slaughter industry as long as your wearing  black leather and not eating the food. That makes sense, to me. Hell, I wear slim jims in my shoes to make the fit better and stuff my shorts with goetta to make me appear huge. I don't eat the shit, I just wear it. You should see the meat coat I had made. Kind of messy, oh but so toasty in the winter months!

Good for you.

I don't judge people, glad you do because somebody has to.

I own a leather coat and bought it when I still ate cows. Would i buy another? Nope. But I'm sure as hell not going to let something go to waste because i changed my mind. Yes, I don't wear it all that much anymore, except when I'm farming humans to make boots.

My MIL gave me suede shoes for Xmas, i shoulda given then back but i'm not an asshole.

See it's one thing to be earth minded and another thing to be a jackass.

FWIW it's impossible to go animal product free without devoting ones life to it.

Things that animals die for:

Beer, cheese, jello, boston baked beans, Mc Donalds fries, honey, shellac, pizza, boxes... i could stopped at the first one, eh?

Pick your battles, I'll pick mine.

I agree, there is no call to be rude.

But most animals....

most animals die for cultivating crops.

I mean if you don't want to gorge on flesh....I don't blame you.  But if you dine on wild berries you can play the Earth card, if not you are ulitmately more the Earth and animal killing machine....

Love ya's whether you are meat eating or sactimonious affected veggies....either way...

I gotcha Tik, believe me, my wife has done all the research and i've heard it all. The sheer amount of people walking the earth does not allow for earth friendly food production, but i buy organic, from local farms, and fish for my fish and personally think that everyone (which i know you've done) should have to kill and clean an animal before they eat it. At least once.

Having lived in the woods for a month on what one can find, gather or kill puts a new perspective on survival. It also enables a nefound respect for those animals that do that every day. That experience made me realize what i need and that isn't filet mignon. To each his own.

I look at the girl who pitches a fit smashing cups in the driveway at a party (because she is vegan) in a very odd way. She's real but not realistic. What a waste of good styro-foam and a buzz-kill to boot.

You gotta pick your battles or go mad.

Maybe I need to kill domesticated animals like some other jackasses do.

Unfortunately you are right.

I really don't consider myself a sportsman.  When I kill an animal I wouldn't say it's depressing but it is not fun.

So why hunt?

To tell you the truth I have no idea.  I have been on drive hunts where Bambi comes running up to me and stops.  Black eyes watering, tongue out and panting, ten feet away.

I could not pull the trigger.

Shooting at game in Africa or Czech or Germany or America...for what?

Walking across endless field here, hunting, studying, planting trees, looking at who killed what.

The automobiles and the plow, discs, fertilizers...do everything from thin eggs of ground nesting birds, cause runoff and mangle and twist baby animals, worms, birds...everything.

I would never dismiss anyone for trying to eliminate pain and suffering, but this may be as natural as breathing.

No idea...

WTF was I talking about?

I guess the main reason I go hunting is to learn and be involved in nature and the reality of death.

Much like working for yourself, you either make money or you are finished.  THAT is fukken reality!

Going to the supermarket while working for the man....you have no idea what the fukk is up unless you read about it in Wikipedia....and it's the same with war and it's the same with a good mix...

Why doesn't cat food come in lil' birdy, goldfish and field mouse flavor?

The most prime cooked flesh on a human comes from the thigh. No it doesn't taste like chicken. They gotta be grain fed farmed humans however.

I don't build cars, is it ok if I drive one? I don't kill animals, is it ok if I eat one?

For some it's OK to ride an elevator if someone pushes the buttons for them... and some will eat the chicken if it was slaughtered facing Mecca. Some will even go to the extreme of drinking only from the Kosher Coke Truck. It's just that people need to get worried about something and at the same time smear it on everyone else's face, based solely on misconceptions and/or dogmas.

But hey, there's no right or wrong. There's only popular opinion. And that's why nobody drinks Bud in Belgium and very few if any have Qwak in Arkansas. Have you tried those monkey brains yet?
