i don't mind what mix we do just want to get back into it and learn more  

would be nice if some of the more experienced could join in to educate us on how they listen and their work ethics but most are to busy which is understandable.

Ok guys here a few ideas I think we should incorporate into this upcoming WUMP>>>


About our comments -

The main thing we should comment on is whether or not the track translates/plays well on your listening system, at low volumes and when it's cranked.

Comment on any problems with balance etc..

Lastly, we shouldnt focus too much on what techniques were used or trying to guess what was done,we should just focus on if it sounds good/plays well, and/or if it sounds better than the mix.

These i think are the most important things.

Just some ideas guys - don't kill me!

yeah cool with me i think we should go into why we choose to do what we do to the track rather than just post settings
settings don't mean much if there is no meaning behind them

i don't disagree, but i think we the most important work to do now is to find a mock client who will lay down the line. e.g. a professional mix engineer. i think it would be a good idea to actively seek mentorship in this area.

we've been prioritizing pleasing ourselves and other mastering engineers in wumps, but there is always someone else who it's more important to please on a real job. i think seeking a more realistic client situation should be our next logical step towards improving the learning experience.

Agreed Jeff,
but I just dont want the issue of playback translation being swept under the carpet.
After all, this really is important.

i think what i am saying considers translation deeply! the client naturally looks after translation in real life... it is their main concern in my experience. so that would be an excellent reason to try and strive towards a more realistic client situation for wump7.

alex, perhaps you could prove the odds wrong, but you still bear the persona of a mastering engineer on this forum. i rarely do work for other m.e's except in wumps. so i feel we should all try and find some qualified outsider who  we will respect absolutely on what is acceptable and what is not for their mix. otherwise we will tend to challenge each other's opinions naturally, always.  and it is all subjective. do you know what i mean?
