i use gear pro mastering version to cut PPD files for the plant
when i'm done, if the plant accepts them; the good ones do.

Do you mean DDP?

Why not cut them directly from Sequoia?

Really? Easier than hitting one button from within the disc burning window of Sequoia?

This thread makes me want to lobotomize myself with a grapefruit spoon.

Just thought I'd mention that!

Hey Dave, can you start using T Rax on my stuff?  I think that's the sound I'm going for.

They say the heart of Rock & Roll is still beating, which is amazing if you consider all the blow it's done over the years.

JJ - please lobotomize away.

The fact remains that while I do all the "heavy lifting" for the vast majority of processing I do in the analog realm - for a ton of chores and work flow requirements that can make a master truly great - such as automating minor eq changes per section, phrase or even note - or being able to easily alter amount of digital limiting applied even after capture back from the chain to make the track work better in context of the surrounding tracks after hearing things in a "last looks" way - or specialized requirements such as selective nr, additional M/S processing, click removal or accurate notch cuts - then plugins "kick ass" and I have no desire not to have them as an option in the toolbox.

Also your post fails to acknowledge that latest generation stuff such as the Algorithmix, Refined Audiometrics or Sonoris offerings have notched the quality level that is possible with plugins way way up.

Best regards,
Steve Berson

i don't know what's wrong, but after having 2 failed burns from sequoia in trying to use it this way, and no failures so far after i'd say almost 50 with Gear Pro on my Plextor, i just tend to prefer it; seems more reliable for the purpose.

could be configurations within sequoia, but i've already vested the time and money with Gear Pro since their demo worked perfectly from the first time.

sequoia also acts weird during other operations, but i'd rather not start a whole other session on that.

i find that it's reliable for very nice fades and dither, as previously stated.

for vst dx operations, that's when sequoia acts up for me, again it could be configurations.

but wavelab worked perfectly the first time right out of the box.

i guess it's a matter of efficiency.

sequoia is the only way for me to get pow-r dither right now and i still use it for fades sometimes.
so it's still on my hard drive, otherwise i'd sell it.

JJ - please lobotomize away.
supposing j.j. went to the massive server and downloaded the numbered wump submissions... do you think he could tell which was mastered with analog?

Sorry, but I have to draw the line somewhere.

Based on your mixes that I've heard, you're not even close to getting that T-Racks sound!

Maybe a stereo-pair of Big Muffs?

Actually I have a pair of vintage Pro Co Rat pedals (the pre LED version) custom modded with detented swtches & tranformer balanced i/o for just such a purpose that's WAY better than the BM's.  C'mon DC - get with the program.

Steve, thou doth protest too much.  I don't think my post said, "Plug-ins suck for mastering."  I was just commenting on some of the ones suggested, without picking on anybody in particular.

Wow, I'd look into re-installing it or something - Sequoia's DDP support has been perfect for years...
