W7 and OSX users SR and BR with ease....
« on: July 03, 2011, 03:57:19 AM »

I dislike that Microsoft followed Apple OSX down the road of stripping out professional features
for audio use. (some would say basic user information)

This little application allows you to see sample rate and bit rate of files quick and easy in Windows 7/OSX with a right click/select drop down. Much better than bit rate reporting or opening a DAW etc.

I have been using it for 4 months now on W7 64 and have noticed no detriment on my system:

People often forget about QuickTime Player on Mac OSX.

It's been there all along. I keep an alias of it on my desktop.

Quickly opens audio files, pressing Command>I (Inspector)
then tells you the sampling rate, bit depth, channel format, data size, data rate, and duration.

All while listening to check it.

Keeps one from having to open iTunes and being directed to the Store!

You can use it with video files as well.

Sure QT shows file detail under inspect movie but I wanted something where I do not have open an application, like OS's gone by and this does the job.

Just rounding up a classical/folk album whilst doing listen back I just suspected a female choral vocal perfromance was a shade "munchkin" but it is in fact the vocalist. Just checked sample rates of files concerned to be 100pct sure there was no 44/48 shizzle going down.

Media info allows multple file selections and reports the SR of 13 files in 1 second flat, another great feature is multiple file selection capability.

Worth installing.

That's handy, Jerry, thanks. I now have an alias on the desktop - my iMac is the gateway for many of the files passing through.
