EQ in and Dyn in blocking the signal on SSL 4000?
« on: May 24, 2011, 12:17:04 AM »

Hi I have a few modules where when I press the Eq in or either the Dyn in, the signal is cut. I don't think it's a switch problem cause it happens also in monitor path.
Any thought of what could be the problem?

thx

most often that would be a capacitor...  unless the console has been recapped at some point in it's life you are going to have caps that degrade or completely fail...  when you pop the EQ or Dynamic you are dropping in a whole chunk of circuitry with series caps decoupling stages (blocking DC)...  most of the time when I see this in an older SSL (a lot of consoles really) it turns out to be a cap
