fun/interesting/useful 1/2 rack units
« on: May 20, 2011, 04:07:47 PM »

Anyone know of any good 1/2 rack units, or any racks that would allow stacking 2x 500 modules top on top?

I have an EQ killer that's about 2U high : 1/2 rack width to use as a side-chain. I'd like to stick something else besides it to rack it all up. I could just make a bridge with some meters, but would rather something more useable.

Are there any 1/2 rack hardware M/S matrixes?

Maybe something like Safesound Stereo Toolbox? Anyone know of a rack for a double wide 500 on one side, and blank on the other? (sounds custom). ..

Doubt there'll be anything off the shelf .. got any leads on good 1/2 rack project boxes I could craft something .. umm, well 'crafty' into ;-)

   Thanks!

Wow, I'm just thinking the same exact thing here. I have a Weiss DAC2 shelved on a 2U shelf, 1/2 width.

I'm about to build a M/S matrix, and I was going to put it in a 1HE box, but you just made me re-think it. Thanks for that! I'm building this one: http://www.ka-electronics.com/KAelectronics/MS_Matrix/MS_Matrix.htm

Paul Gold has one, I think, and I' ve heard several people saying it's pretty much transparent. Simple build, and any tech would be able to build you one if you don't want to..

here's a link to a page in japanese,
very clever metalwork : http://german-modules.de-blog.jp/extreme_sus_rack_by_wmj_2009.pdf

Pretty cool .. this is all exactly the type of info I was looking for. Thanks guys!

$700 + shipping from japan for a 1/2 rack to mount an OEV or NTP . . . I wonder what a custom metalshop or good tech would charge to just rack one up on a bridge plate ..

I recently picked up the Avenson Mid-Side, and I'm very pleased with it.
