They say the heart of Rock & Roll is still beating, which is amazing if you consider all the blow it's done over the years.

"The negative aspects of this business, not only will continue to prevail, but will continue to accelerate in madness. Conditions aren't going to get better, because the economics of rock and roll are getting closer and closer to the economics of Big Business America." - Bill Graham

My Vox AC30 Super Reverb Twin head had a reverb with one spring soldered to a phono cartridge on each end (transducer and pickup).
It sounded much like crap (no, not even funky cool, like maybe the crappy Supro cardboard box can be), so I took it out and put a Fender type circuit and Hammond pan in it.

The first recording verb I had, with my Teac 3340/stack of Shure M68s setup was a Pioneer home stereo spring thing. Not great sounding, but cool display.

the art 01 .. it just downright sucked ..art reverb in general just bit it

lexicon 300 ... the hardest reverb to figure out and then it sucked
i too like the 200 ...program 6 non lin is the shit

the pcm 80, 81, 82, 90 91 92   all just junk !

i love the quantec room simulator ..the original but then the QRS sucked .....

the eventide 2016 was the best ever but sucked the most because it would always break right when you were about to print your mix

The Master Room spring was pretty stanky.

Wow. I cannot express how much I adore mine, but maybe it's a different model. In a word: creamy. There are a couple in town that get loaned out a lot (mine included).

Early Sony and Yamaha reverbs..don't bother.

The Sony DRE-2000 is one of my favorite reverbs!

I'll sort of second WW by adding that the early 224 (brown  / beige remote on a flat ribbon cable) is still my fave verb from Mexicon...

Like Brian K sez..when used on a guitar or when used strictly for character, those springs are great. I'd kill for a Master Room now, just for that purpose. But when I was starting out, doing PA, a MasterRoom was all we could afford as a primary reverb. And as a primary reverb, it was pretty unrefined.

The Sony..I just can't say it stood out. What settings do you like?

I like the sony because it is / was the "Anti-Lex" The sony verb algorhythms, particularly the 'plate' settings, were so frosty and aggressive... not so somber as the Lexicon. I seldom use reverb these days, but I did use the sony for a snare drop in a reggae tune recently... it was perfect.

The Lexicon LXP 15. Horrid! Noisy, prone to failure, totally unreliable, crispy crunchy crap.

Also, Sony made a real dog once...the R-55 I think it was called. Sounded like thumb-tacks rattling around in a tin bucket.

The LXP 15?  What about the LXP 1 and the LXP 5?

I had an LXP 5 - stupidly tried to fix it, then threw the thing away, like I should've done in the first place.

Yaknow, Trueverb has it's place, useful for matching ambiances sometimes, but it's DARK!  DVerb's kinda limited, but it does it's thing okay.  I wouldn't want to lean on either if I needed some real lush sounding reverb, but for general "tucked in the mix" tasks, they're okay.

I like to use a room as a chamber, though Smile  Closets really suck for this.

Waves RVerb gets my vote, for blowing up my projects and continuously pissing me off. I've been 98% Waves free for almost a year now, and I can't say that I really miss that 300db *SNAP* when one of those bastards blows up at 3am in the morning...
