small console
« on: June 14, 2006, 01:30:52 PM »

I've had a mackie 32.8 for a little over a year now and not only do I not like it, I don't use all of it.  I'm looking into selling that and getting a small, but very good console with great pre's and the like.  I'm looking to spend somewhere around 3-4k.  Any suggestions would be lovely.

Thank you,

Jake

Well, thet Trident ATB is coming out. No telling how good its going to be since no one's really heard a production version yet. They start at 16 channels and are in the $3K range. Gotta be better than than a Mackie 32-8 I reckon.

Other than that, a used console in refurbished condition is going to run more money. The most affordable thing I can think of is an old trident Series 65 or Series 24, which start around $5K and really should be reconditioned, modded and upgraded, which will run closer to $10K.

Do you happen to have any links or anything so I can check out the Trident?

Thanks so much,

Jake

Is that thing cool? I've heard not so good stuff about TL-- starved plate etc, etc.

Well, I haven't used the console, but I like their outboard pres.

Beats the hell outta me, though. One man's poison...yadda yadda.
