I remember in the seventies when they said the world was getting colder.

BTW...

It's fukken the end of May and it's 9 celcius here in Germany tonight.

You cannot go out there without a jacket.

Yes, just a few years ago many of the "scientists" were saying that we were all going to die in a New Ice Age.  Now we're all going to burn up or flood.

Personally (not a scientist here) I think the world will do exactly what it wants to, and we are but a gnat flitting around it from time to time, full of hubris, but barely even noticed by Mother Nature.  Volcanos such as Kilauea and Vanuatu spew out far more damaging gases than humans do.  The level of CO2 was actually higher at several other times in the earth's history.

HOWEVER, I see no need not to do everything we can to keep our place clean!

It is certainly a powerful trailer...

As Terry said, we should do everything we can to keep the place clean, afterall, my mother doesn't live here.

There have been many threats over the years --- the earth getting colder, California tumbling into the sea, we've been "out of oil" for at least the last 50 years...

This said, I am not diminishing what may well be a powerful threat.

If I told you this 'civilization thing' wasn't the first, but one of many dozens, you'd laugh.

It's not global warming. Volcanos are also tiny. It's Galactic warming.

Worry about Sun flares, but not too much.. nothing to be done about them anyway. Flares caused every great extinction event, with people who were just as feeble, and as advanced as we are now.

Just one man's thoughts.

Personally, I worry about emergency road flares and the methane gas produced by cows -- a truly dangerous combination.

The thing that concerns me more than anything is breathing the air in our cities. I agree that the earth will do what it wants and we are hardly noticed in the end.

But we take years off our lives living in this crap.

Pretty amusing coming from a smoker eh? Confused

Years off our lives? We live nearly twice as long (expected) as people of 200 years ago.

Careful!

It's not that easy - the length of life hasn't been significantly extended, just the number of folks that reach that age.

There were lots of folks that made it to the 80's, 90's, even 100's two centuries ago...

"But to buy into all this pollitical bullshit....

THIS is what I think is just as dangerous. People adopting this attitude in the face of research done by those with no axe to grind, giving the same credence to those WITH an axe to grind, ie., "think tanks" funded by the energy industry coming out with  _reports_  that refute empirical _evidence_. It's like Dennis Miller's ignorance (presumably) of the realities of what a degree or two in global climate change actually translates to. Six inches of rainfall really isn't all that much...........if it only measures that much in a BUCKET!
What's the percentage of _international_ scientists who support the  theory and impending reality of global warming versus the percentage of those who don't? Do your own research before you dismiss. The only reason it is political is because those with profits at stake are willing to put us all in the shit (and at each others throats) in order to protect those profits.

Cool,

You think it's dangerous to dismiss Gore or the Texas Hat Rack.

Someone works and produces and then someone else can't stay the course...so they get elected, or not...and talk shit...

so what.

We

You and I

We're free men.

We chose to pollute or not.

What some asshole wearing a tie to retain his foreskin thinks or says is only something for the fags in the press to ejaculate over.

It is after all up to the citizens to act or not.

And since there is 300 million of us, it seems the concensus is to vote for hat racks from Texas.

Does this mean I'm dangerous to think they are all full of shit?/.

But thanx for thinking I'm dangerous, it makes me feel like a badass...

lemme nough

Science is driven by politics. Empirical evidence is a number someone decided to use, to drive their agenda to the store.

There are more people researching man as the cause of global warming, than there are people researching why the Sun is so overtly active.

Must be rocket emmissions in space.

Kiss the Sun, tell it you love it everyday.
