I pre-soak, as well. I'm considering investing in a vacuum brewer. Any experience with this?

Not familiar with that. Right now I'm saving up for a decent burr grinder.

On consideration,  my bean choice has more to do with being lazy. If I was at all motivated, my local roaster wholesaler would sell me fair trade organic for $6 a pound, I just can't get up to where he's at, so I buy what's in the grocery aisle.

Quote:

For those with a passion for coffee, this unique stovetop coffee maker uses the vacuum method to brew coffee to perfection.

The bottom carafe is filled with water and coarse-ground coffee is placed in the upper globe. The water boils up through a tube and brews the coffee in the upper globe. When the maker is removed from its heat source and placed on its trivet (included), the coffee filters itself back down the tube and into the carafe ready to be enjoyed.

The coffee brewed by this maker is far superior to that brewed using the drip method. Many who use the vacuum would never dream of brewing their coffee any other way.

For me, it's hard to beat a French press for simplicity and great coffee.

It's for tobacco/coffee use only and please refer to it as a water pipe or you will be asked to leave the head shop.
