Azimuth Correction
« on: April 28, 2011, 10:45:08 AM »

What experience do you guys have with azimuth correction software? I work with a lot of tape and the azimuth on some of these old 1/4" sources can get pretty unstable. This is especially true on dubs, safeties, etc., where the azimuth error of the original recorder is added to the error of the player, and then the copy deck, etc. In the end, a static azimuth setting is inadequate.

I'm trying out the Cube-tec Azimuth VPI and it seems to do a good job on material that has a solid center image. I've heard good things about the Cedar azimuth software and hardware options. Any others? Opinions?

Thanks,

I've never used their services or products, but the folks behind the Penteo process claim it removes azimuth drift.  (http://www.penteosurround.com)  I'm just passing along information from an AES meeting they hosted.

Thanks. Looks like more than I need but I'll give them a call.

I was really impressed with RX2 when I saw it at AES. If the azimuth tool had a dynamic mode I'd buy it for sure.
