Logic or Reason or What?
« on: May 03, 2006, 02:42:14 PM »

OK so im on a 1.5 Ghz G4 Laptop with Tiger and I've been using Garage Band to make music with software instuments but i can tell it is hindering me from my full potential as an artist if you know what i mean;).  I don't record really, but I do need to make beats and such.   I'm a newbie to this whole thing, and really, i just wanna be like aphex twin... There's a class i can take that uses Reason, but i don't want to have to end up buying something else later because reason isn't good enough.

What should I buy?

I'd go for Ableton Live. Reason is a great tool for programming but there is something about the sound of it I don't like. Ableton Live is more like Garageband but does a whole lot more. There's a wealth of options, effects etc. on offer and it's really simple to use.
