DDP Creator updated with Enhanced CD
« on: April 21, 2011, 10:45:00 AM »

Just a quick note to let you know that the Sonoris DDP Creator is updated to version 2.0.4

New features:

- Enhanced CD DDP create / DDP load / CD burn / CD rip. This is an additional option to the standard version. It is possible to add a data session to an existing DDP image and create a new Enhanced CD DDP from that.

- CD Architect images supported
- FTP with auto resume AND verify after download
- PQ sheet pdf now has additional project notes
- lots of enhancements and fixes

Please visit www.sonorissoftware.com for a demo. The update is free for current owners with the exception of the Enhanced CD option.

best regards,

Pieter Stenekes

Working great here Pieter!

Much easier way to burn discs from a DDP than WaveLab 7.

It gets CD-Text right as well.

And thanks for including us Mac guys.

Money well spent, recommended.

Haven't tried the Enhanced feature yet.

Hi Pieter,

Any plans to support Jam images? Both Waveburner and Wave Editor do but I would rather use DDP Creator.

Why work from a Jam image when you can just assemble the master in DDP Creator?  It's as easy as Jam to use only it's been developed as a pro application.

Because DDP Creator does not support burning CDs from PPC Macs, does not read Pro Tools exported regions and the fact that all my archives for the past 10 years are in Jam format. Plus I would rather not change my work flow as it works for me.

Ah yes, not a problem in my case so I overlooked it.

I don't understand this one?  PT HD is my main DAW and I export files ready for DDP creator all the time.  "Export selected region as file"

Again fair enough.  I've used a few different apps to create masters over the years but I always keep of all the constituent parts backed up too - files, spaceing, running order etc.  When I need to revisit an old project I recreate it my current software.

Good luck

iirc Jam images are in SD2 file format.

Perhaps DDP creator will only use AIFF or Wave?

Just a guess.

By default my Pro Tools sessions are 24 bit. "Exporting" files in 16 bit automatically introduces dither (see Pro Tools manual). Selecting the best type of dithering (they sound different to my ears) to fit each project is important to my work-flow, so "exporting regions as files" in Pro Tools is not an option as I do not want my files dithered twice or the sound changed, even in a subtle manner.

"export regions definition" is what I use and these definitions can then be imported into Jam (as it was with Masterlist CD) for assembly, leaving the integrity of the audio intact. If I need a DDP, Jam creates a Jam image that I import into Waveburner or WaveEditor.

Yep, that's one of the "features" of Pro Tools that I don't like, it's probably a good thing that hacks can't truncate files unwittingly but like you I mostly use a different dither.  In my case it's PoWR 2 for acoustic stuff, for everything else I'm not too bothered.  At the moment I record my master back into Pro Tools at 24 bit and then export at 24 bit with my dither in the file.  I then truncate using Barbabatch.

I guess it's all part of the joy of using a mixing DAW as a mastering DAW, that said HD brings a lot to the table that I depend on.  I'm just about to augment with a Sadie capture rig, looking forward to that.
