R&B/Bubblegum vs. Classic Rock

If most of the people on this forum had to choose between the two listed above, my guess is that they would pick classic rock without much hesitation.  I am in the other camp (white boy that grew up in Iowa), and would gladly give up classic rock.  

I think this is almost a psychological profile test, although I am not sure what it proves.

What would you choose?

If I was on a deserted island, and I could only pick one artist to work with, I'd pick Sarah McLachlan.

I don't know how that works out with my choices.. but you'd have to imagine anything would get old, without something else to offset it.

I just get old.

Uhh.. I'd rather do real Motown, than most classic rock.

There are certain Rock bands that I really dig a lot. I wont make a list because that's not the point really.

Having said that, If I were put on an Island and could only record one set of styles, it would be soul Music. That's a huge term that covers a lot of ground but I'm talkin' old school. No Machines, a great band, "large please, like 12 or 14 folks, singers,horns percussion etc.}People who are making music because it's just who they are..

Yes, R&B, SOUL,, MOTOWN,,BLUES,,FUNK,,JAZZ, all the root's based forms of music. This,imntlbho, is why Rock music gets to exists at all so,............

FWIW, I don't understand why you put R&B and Bubblegum together. I guess lately, what passes for R&B is some sort of bad joke but, I put a lot more rock in the Bubblegum category.

thinking pragmatically, if i was on a desert island, probably, all saints would be the go

i mean, on  a deserst island, who really cares if they can sing?

Well I would take Jessica Simpson   .... Like Max says, who cares if they can sing?

But to answer the question.  I would prefer classic rock, (and a blonde)

Although I love classic R&B and Soul, I would have to choose Classic Rock:

Beatles, Hendrix, Stones, Cream, Jeff Beck, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Santana, etc.

and '50s Rock & Roll:

Buddy Holly, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Little Richard, etc.

Classic Country:

Johnny Cash, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Waylon, Kristofferson, and of course Ernest Tubb and Bob Wills.

All the Classic Blues and Jass as well.

I think I would prefer Silence over Bubblegum.
