Hey there Hud.

I've been using a pair of the O300Ds for a few years now ...  Love 'em.

Heloo Dave,

Of course I remember you! You of Dave baseball card fame!!
You are a very pleasant fellow and the first "gearslut" I met at
the show in NYC.

Thank you for your response. I am using the older
K+H 0198 (predesessor to the 0300)

I am hearing more and more good things about the 0300.
In your valued opinion, is the 0800 subwoofer required?

Thanks for your thoughts

Tough to say -- I don't know how the 198's frequency response differs -- afaik it's about the same, which is to say that it really is workably flat to 40Hz ..  and rolls off gently below that.  I don't own a sub for mine, but I also do have another pair of mastering monitors that easily cover the netherworld below 40Hz (is that called the Netherlands?).

Depends on what you're doing with them, I guess.   I haven't heard this new subwoofer of theirs, seems to be a cool idea ..  but the 'plain' O800 was pretty impressive when I tried it out.

Feel free to contact me offline if you wanna jab some more about it.. (glad to) ..  But unprodded typing about monitors is like dancing about architecture, and these days I don't think I'm very well-skilled in the art of flowery audiophile jargon...  \m/   .. I do think these are excellent monitors, and I am extremely pleased to have them around.
