Does going the VST route implement a MS problem?

Hi,

during the last 5 weeks I made extensive use of my VST plugs during my search to find a way to do serious mastering with VST plugs alone.

Aleady during mixing I often had the feeling that something was going wrong if I placed VST plugs in groups or master, the sound image seemed to become narrower ( and that was not because of comps ).

Now during the 5 week ME sessions the problem became more evident. I tried to fight it with stereospread, but it turned out to be fighting fire with (another) fire which didn

What compressors and limiters are you using?

And can you post an pre/post example of this "narrowing"?

I'm currently only using plugs, but not feeling any general sense of narrowing of field (except when the processing is set up to do so).
