Max, I am no expert on all things Orestes and have actually only met him once but through the coincidence of my having briefly attended Oberlin College in the early 80's (the launching pad of the Del Fuegos and Chris Brokaw during my era as well as Bitch Magnet and countless others later on) and my friendship with Walt Mink, I wound up putting John from Walt Mink in touch with Orestes when they were between drummers and wishing they could find an "Orestes - style" drummer. My memory of Orestes was of a man with extremely limited patience for bullshit in general and music and art related bullshit in particular. When I tracked him down he was ensconced in a decidedly non music industry lifestyle. While he was playing locally with a band, he had a job with the Dep't of Forestry (if memory serves) and seemed in no great hurry to rush into a higher profile music gig. While Walt Mink did get him on board, in general those kinds of tendencies tend not to lessen as one gets older. He seemed to be a pretty smart and talented guy all around. I'd be curious to hear what he's up to, I wouldn't be suprised if it's non-musical for the most part.
Hope this was informative on some level.
