I voted for Live, I don't get out to gigs often enough. I get to mix a show even less often.

There's something great about being able to make all that air move when you've got a rock band onstage and you're pushing the faders.

Makin' records is what I do for a living, and I do it because I love them.

That said, live is alive.  A truly transcendent live performance is my fundamental reason for breathing.  To me music often means more (or something else, at least) when I know I'll never hear it again.

i refuse to vote because every band has its strong point, some times its in the studio, some times its on stage. this question is verry band dependent.

I didn't really look at it from that standpoint.  I agree with you totally and that is why when I looked at the question I tried to find a way to answer.

In order to answer I had to say to myself...of all the live shows and records that have passed your ears which has left a more lasting, profound impression on you?

For me the answer was that a few live shows have been more profound than any records.  Not all live shows have been better or more profound than certain records.  But man those few just could never be topped by any record.
