I heard a rumor that the New York facility is closing or is already closed http://www.universalmastering.com/

Anyone else heard anything?

Where did you hear that? There are 3 locations. Over the last couple of years I've seen their ad campaign for online mastering and thought they had a loose affiliation with tunecore in that respect.

Are there any references that support they might be closing?

I would say that if you don't have a link or first-hand knowledge, this sort of rumor is potentially damaging to their business. If someone doesn't have first-hand knowledge or a real link, I'm going to shut this one down...

It appears this is true now, Universal Mastering NYC ha closed...

Still not sure about all the details. Will post more if I can get some information regarding who is doing what now.

Yep. They dropped the net March 15th.
Kevin, Seth & Eliot are working out of Sterling.
Don't know what Ellen is doing.
Vlado & Mark will survive.
