I've said it before,but I'll say it again.
Pro Tools can bring great results and run clean and without "issues". It just cost's a lot of money. I think Cubase has it beat in a generals way and for audio only? Samplitude is better for me. I like the editor way better and the mixer seems to sound great.
Now, having said that, I worked on a SAW Studio rig a while back and again a couple weeks ago. Man, this is a huge statement but I'll say it.
No one else even comes close in the mixing and automation department's. Really. It's AMAZING!! I mean I was beside myself {no really, I looked over and I was standing right next to, ME
}
Check it out if you haven't. After an hour or so, you'll see where he's going with this program and it will make a ton of sense.

P.S.,The claim that SAW feels like a hardware room is kinda right. IMHO.
