Possible to sync a Tascam TSR8 to Pro Tools LE?

I have a Tascam TSR8, and am considering purchasing a Digi002 Pro Tools LE 7 system, and was wondering if anyone has ever had any luck sync'ing up these two mediums? It would be great to have the best of both the digital and analog mediums...

you need to get a midi timepiece (or something like it). it'll convert the smpte off the reel to midi timecode so protools can read it. alternatively you could spend about a grand on the dv toolkit option which gives LE SMPTE capabilities and allowing you to bypass the timepiece.

it's also pretty easy to sync a motu 828 mk ii to tape - if you want to go that route - no PT, but also no extra devices needed. you can use audiodesk which the 828 comes with, or upgrade to digital performer or perhaps another application.
