Yeah.. once again, everything I use would be considered a POS.

I even still use an LXP-1 in my live rack. I love it. And an Alesis Nano Comp on snare drum is a thing of beauty. I even get good results with my collection of seventy dollar condenser microphones..both large and small..

You can't make good music with crap..

Alesis 3630 AFTER modding to comply with VCA mfgr (THAT Corp) application notes.  The thing actually sounds good enough that I ditched my RNC and bought another 3630 and modded it too!  

The 3630 has the same VCA as RNC, DBX, etc, but Alesis didn't comply with the VCA app notes concerning the impedance of the control voltage feeding the VCA and the bias adjust circuit of the VCA.  Fix those two items and they're good sounding boxes.  Also upgrade the VCA and op-amps and they're great sounding boxes.
