MCI 636 console general maintenance question

Someone I know has one of these old consoles in daily operation,
cranking out the hits,
It seems to burn through a lot of ICS (NE5534 I believe) - anyone have an idea what might be causing that?
Also any tips on general maintenance to improve overall reliability for this console?
Its never been recapped so I assume that would be the 1st place to start,

VERIFY that the +/- 18VDC rails aren't wildly off-value.

I haven't seen a horrible amount of 5532/5534 chip failures in the 636 desks still in use in my Neck of the Woods.  However, they DO run hot, so the bazillion of cheapo electrolytics in the audio path tend to cook and dry out over time.

you end up blowing light bulbs too often. also, some old electronics will die in the inrush.

With things that have hundreds or thousands of caps and ic's like consoles, the biploar supply ramping up can, at times be assymetrical causing huge offsets and that beats up the caps and ic's.

The more times you do that, the more chances of failing a part.

The chip sockets are notoriously bad on these beasts. i think the ones to look out for are the red ones, if my memory serves correct. Its worth checking for oxidation on these. Changing them out is time consuming but worth while if this is your problem. With the proper tools it can be accomplished quite easily along with the electrolytics if necessary.
