The massive amount of talent out there.
« on: December 21, 2005, 12:28:23 PM »

I was sifting through records and thinking about how many unknown (and relatively unknown engineers) there are out there with incredible chops. So many more than one can imagine.

So tonight I'm gonna raise a glass (or seven) for the unsung heros of this sport that do great work and don't want a publicist.

Profile has nothing to do with proficiency.

There are so many approaches that lead to one thing, or another, both possibly being *right*, and *good*.

I really like that stuff you play occasionally, that sounds like under/over-produced 1974.. I always forget the acts, so many names. Better than Todd Rundgren!

You could wander across the the MARSH (  Shocked ) and listen to this year's CaPE songs, and add some of those guys to the list.

I have, and they did a great job. Folks should check all the Cape projects out.

There is a bunch of talent on here but what fascinated me about sorting through my records/cds is there is a Brazillion great engineers out there.

Cool

But... I'm sure there are many awesome plumbers out there that no-one will ever hear about either...

Bottom line:  We are not artists .  We push buttons and plug in microphones... We are "worker bee's"  Why the hell should you get credit for that?

You will never see me touting my credits....  The artists wrote the fukken tunes... I am a technician.

If you want credit talk to Visa.....

I have said the same thing hundreds of times..
While I was mastering for a pretty major duplicator I collected.."cough" hundreds of albums that sound every bit as good as major releases some way better..shame is they didn't have the look, connections, money, body, lack of clothes, relatives to push them over the hump. Sad

To me, market viability is a joke anyhow.. good stuff is good, and I can make up my mind without a chart.

There are so many talented people, everywhere, doing everything.

There are also a couple hacks out there.
