Vinyl Restoration
« on: December 16, 2005, 05:04:19 PM »

Hello-hopefully I am posting this to the correct forum.

I have a friend who is interested in restoring his collection by moving it to digital and running some tools. What would be the best hw/sw solution for him.
I told him his biggest concern would be the A/D conversion and that he needed to get a decent I/O setup. I also referred him to the Waves restoration bundle and any version of Sound Forge.
Anyone have any thoughts on this????
I have never done this so I am talking out of my butt a bit....

thnx

For restoration there's also Adobe Audition formerly Cool Edit Pro...does a pretty good job.

Lynx2 might be a place to start for his Sound Card but I'm sure there are plenty of others that will do the job. Hell if he's not an audiophile even Soundblaster would get his stuff on to computer in a pinch

Thanks for the response.

I guess it does depend on his ears as there will be a qualitative difference between a Soundblaster and a decent card.

Anyone else have input on this?

Thanks so much, Corey
