I've supplied J with some drum tracks that I think will be interesting to work with.   The form and arrangement are very freeform so it could go a lot of different places.   The song that I borrowed them from isn't finished yet either so hopefully by the end of this crazy songwriting adventure, I can show you the tune the drums actually came from.

I guess in a way I'm saying that I'll be working on the song, too.   Do I count as a head?

Hell yes!

One of the more entertaining aspects of last time was seeing how it compared to J's.  I found the differences remarkable!

Any idea as to when the tracks might be put up?  Are we still waiting to decide on a tuning?  A more convenient time?

BUMP.

i'm still swamped, but how many people are really interested in this idea.

i'd like to get a head count.  might get me motivated.

i'm in, but confused about the tuning thing...all songs in the same key or do we actually have to stick to 6 notes...?  And can we get a good stereo mix along with the individual drum tracks...?

sign up in the other thread.

any key you want, you just have to play the guitar in whatever tuning we all pick.  there is no chord structure, just an open tuning.

make your own stereo mix of the drums.............

Actually, it's really I.M.P. 4, not I.M.P. 2

I forgot about the 2 songwriting exercises before the last one, probably because I didn't participate in the first two.

This sounds great.  Has this developed beyond this thread yet?

I think I've used everything but standard tuning for the last decade or so, so this sounds like fun.

Nothing like a new tuning to shake the cobwebs away.

Gosh, I feel so out of it.  Is there a definitive set of rules?

Also, I've got the cards installed as an OS X Widget, and it seems there are several versions.

1975 (Original)
1978 (Second)
1979 (Third)
1996 (Fourth)

I set the Widget to Fourth Edition and the first thing I got was "Remove a restriction"

So according to the concept, that would mean changing the tuning, no?

(Just kidding!!!! But that really was the first card I drew!)

Yeah me too-- I found an old version but it doesn't work in classic mode.

voila:

The other widget I use a lot is the Guitar Chord Widget which is great because you can enter any tuning you want and it will tell you how to make a chord as long as it's major, minor, augmented, diminished, sus4 or sus2 (hey, pop music, y'know?)
