Swissonic&Daking versus firepod
« on: November 23, 2005, 01:59:01 AM »

I currently own a firepod and symmetrix 528E.  I'm wondering if there would be a noticeable difference to use the swissonic AD converter and Daking pre.  I'm sure the pre alone would be a nice upgrade, but I'd like to go with a better AD converter.....or are the converters in the firepod decent?  I really have nothing to compare it to having only previously owned a delta/omni combo.

Mics:
1)SE Gemini
2)AT 4060
3)Schoeps cmc64's
4)KLM184's
and others that don't matter.

Any help and/or suggestion will be appreciated.

Also, what PCI/adat card should I get for the swissonic converter---lynx..RME...others?

Don't know about the convertors you're talking about but the Daking would be a huge step up from the Symetrix. Dakings quickly became my favorite mic pre once I discovered them.

Hey, thanks.

The daking is definitely on my short list of next buys.  I considered the ADL600, but it's a bit more pricey.
