sub with good magnetic shielding?
« on: November 21, 2005, 10:08:18 PM »

I'm looking for a subwoofer that both sounds great and has excellent magnetic shielding.  The Yamaha unit I purchased recently causes one of my hard drives to act quirky if it gets within 12 " of the drive.  The sub is for use in combination with ADAM SA-3's. Any ideas?  Thanks in advance-

Do you really need to have a hard drive within 12" of a sub ?

Seems like it might eventually rattle the screws out of the HD chassis.

Wouldn't it be easier to move the HD, than buy a new sub?

My (ancient) Yammie sub is about 6' from anything else.

Just my 2 cents.

Really, just move it. I wouldn't be surprised if you lose or corrupt data by having a hard drive inside a speakers magnetic field.
