Title: attenuators
Post by: j.hall on May 11, 2004, 12:22:14 PM
i had the master section of my amek big modded.

the mod sounds great, and i'm really happy with it but was wondering about retro fitting a higher quality (possibly stepped) attenuator in the monitor path, "control room volume".

right now it has a 10k log pot.  i have a moderate amount of space "under the hood" to mount something.  under 200 dollars, what are my option?

here's what I generally do

http://www.partsconnexion.com/catalog/controlsswitches.html

you'll hit a page of stepped attenuators - currently they are sold out - too bad

and there are tabs on the bottom of that page

so go to potentiometers

I generally buy the TDK parts

TKD - STEREO Conductive Plastic Potentiometer, 10K (50 dB audio taper)

It'll be a huge improvement

email sent

hopefully that means it's ordered

i spent about 30 minutes filling out the PDF.  probably could have gone quicker to just call it in.

does that pot have a standard shaft diameter?

any websites i can browse with cool knobs?
