Hi,
I haven't really worked on Neves or Ameks - one thing I can tell you though is that I've worked on this desk for several years now, and to be perfectly honest - its preamps, couple with the EQ, would probably eat without salt a lot of modern day preamps that are being sold for a few hundred pounds each. Perhaps it's not "fat" or "bigger than life" like a Neve, or not as precise as an SSL, but in my opinion it would simply make you stop thinking as it will do the job straight away. The preamps are on the clean side but work really great on all sources, the routing options and the patch bay are really useful and you can do pretty much anything on the EQ. if it's not too pricey go for it.
