Canare or Mogami
« on: November 15, 2005, 04:44:02 PM »

For those of you using these two cables, is there a difference in sound quality in a 30' cable? Any pro's or con's to consider?

The Mogami 2549 is about $30 for a 30' cable, on ebay.
The Canare L-4E6S is about $27 for 30'.

Both use gold neutrik. The Canare comes with color coded ends or color cable.

I do about 90% location recording.

Thanks

For perm, install, I like the Mogami Quad, {????? can't remember the number, I'll look}  And I like the Canare Mic wire. I decided This based on price at the time and how easy it was to solder.

I don't think you will hear a difference between the two companies cables.

Some people like either.

I hate the word Canare, so my snake materials have always been Mogami.

Whatever it's been, I've usually bought from Markertek. (great happy voices, big city prices)

Mogami Neglex Quad (2534) is all I use. I always keep a spindle on hand. And building your own cables is much, MUCH cheaper.

All Mogami snakes here, almost all mic cables are Mogami 2549, their best non-quad cable.  I have no interference problems here, so I use the lower capacitance wire.  I have a spool here and make customs when the need arises.

I'll second that making your own is ALWAYS the best way to go. And I'll second Markertek, too, though Redco has better pricing on some Mogami, Markertek has better pricing on Neutrik connectors.

I get mine from Performance Audio. The Neutrik connectors tend to fluctuate in price, but the Mogami stays pretty stable. I really like the service - they always ship the same day I order. I've got another reel of Neglex coming in this week, I'm hoping to do a bit of cable building this weekend Smile
