hey all

did a quick search for the firepod didnt turn up much so thought i would start a thread *puts on flame proof clothing*

anyone got/used a presonus firepod, just looking at getting views on it as its right in my price range, would also like to know, if anyone does, how it compares to a mackie onyx mixer as i was also looking into that

or if anyone has other products in this range for me to look at

Hey. i don't know about the Onyx. but i do sometime use the firepod to record my drums, and for the money , the pre's sound very god, i use it on OSX, and it is stable.plus the converter are cool...so don't wory , for your money. you
will be happy...i do recomment it....

should have asked this question, the firepod wont be to blame if my recordings sound bad?

Got it...works well...done many band releases/demos/forensics/a few small indie releases/several location jobs, etc with it...

You can run 2 or 3 now, upping the ante to 24 I/O, but lose SPDIF and 96K...but it really does what its supposed to do without any problems....

Pres are much better than you'd think...Once we decide on where we go from here for the main room (Aurora/AES16 leading the pack, RME Frieface right on its heels) the FP will remain as THE remote setup unit...

As stated, if your projects sound bad, blame the person in the mirror...not the gear.

Just wanted to chime in with another good experience, I have the firebox rather than firepod, but it's the same thing, just with only 2 pres instead of 8 (no lightpipe either).  I am not going to pretend I know anything about how it compares to analog or most other interfaces, but it's stable and has served me well over the past 8 months or so.  Definitely good enough that it won't be the limiting factor on your recordings for quite some time.  

For example, in my case the top 3 limiting factors on my recordings so far have been 1) musical talent, 2) time, 3) recording talent.  The firebox is WAY down the list of challenges.

sweet thanks all, just what i wanted to hear, confirmed my thoughts

will be buying one in the next couple of months, then the plan is another one next year when i need it, let the recording fun begin
