Favourite reference CD/DVD players?
« on: September 12, 2005, 05:19:41 AM »

Hi all,
I'm looking for a good, but not silly-priced reference CD/DVD player. I thought this would be the best place to post my question. I do remember the Toshiba SD-3950 oder -60 from a previous thread, but it may have been superseded by another model in the meantime.

Thanks & best regards, Ralf

I used to use my TASCAM CD-RW2000 until I discovered that its DAC was too different from the DAC in my soundcard. So, now I play CDs from the CD-R tray in my DAW using either Samp's CD extraction tool (preview) or something like EAC or iTunes player. That way, I'm hearing whatever disc I'm previewing thru the same convertors as the material I'm working on.

When I'm just checking or listening down a disc I'll still use the TASCAM though.

How's the Tascam DV-RA 1000 as a CD playback machine? (I do not mean through the on board converters of course).
