once again: compressor/gates while recording/drumsound!!
« on: April 18, 2005, 02:22:02 AM »

hi,

i had a thread for gates/comps on snare..

so what i didnt tell you: we had water breaking in our studio.. so the whole bitch was flooded.. this was 2 years ago.. equipment for 40000$ went away, and i had no insurance..

so I try to get back in buisness since then but it's hard and expensive, and I only have my ashly compressor (stereo clx-51)

well, so here my question:
I record deathmetal, blackmetal.. and a new project is announced.

Drumsound: is the microphone-bleed/sounding acceptable here, if I only use a comp on the snare, and only afterwards comps/gates with plugins?

sorry to hear about your loss of equipment, that is never any fun.

bleed into the mics is unavoidable.

i'd try to get the best sound you can into the computer, and work with it from there.
