My only live rig question, promise!
« on: April 06, 2005, 04:48:40 PM »

Hey Chris,

I'm one of the live sound guys who lurks over here on the recording side of prosoundweb because I feel like you all have a lot to teach us live folks.

Saw you guys on the last round of touring (w/ rilo kiley) for Transatlanticism.  I wanted to know what you were using as a mic on your amp.  From my lowly spot in the pit it looked like a blue ball, correct?

Oh, and a final kudos to whomever you tapped to mix Rilo Kiley live, probably the best live mix I've run across in the past year of going to shows and doing freelance system tech work.

Ok, back to lurk mode!

That was, indeed, a BLUE Ball on my guitar cabinet.  John Byrd (Carrboro, NC) does our live sound, and I stay out of his world as much as I possibly can.  I have little idea what's working and what's not in the live situation.  When I'm on stage, I'm just the guitar player.

I don't know who was doing FOH for Rilo Kiley on that tour...  I wish I could help out, but I really have no idea.
