Another Strange Neumann Model
« on: June 27, 2013, 02:56:00 AM »

Here is one I don't remember seeing before! The ebay auction is here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Neumann-MM2-Vintage-Tube-Microphone-Telefunken-AKG-Schoeps-/121131770161?pt=US_Pro_Audio_Microphones&hash=item1c34042131

Is this a nickel capsule a la KM53?

The MM2 is a measurement microphone with a detached 1/2" omni-directional capsule with aluminum diaphragm, built between 1949 and 1954. This capsule became the very similar KK53, used  in the early M50 and KM53 microphones. The bottle style amplifier of the MM2 bears close resemblance with the U47 amplifier.
