Parts for U47 FETi (broken input pad switch)
« on: September 11, 2013, 03:56:17 PM »

One of our FET 47s has a -10dB pad switch where the plastic (acrylic?) part has crumbled and disintegrated.

Are these parts still available, does anyone know?

Thanks!

Fet 47 switches (all three are the same) have not been available for decades.

Workaround: remove -6dB switch from bottom, for a permanent full-output setting (= transformer secondaries in series), then use that switch to replace the crumbling one, and copy its original wiring/hook up, to obtain -10dB function.

Thanks.

All three switches in this one look like they've seen better days, but only one has completely disintegrated. Maybe the 6dB can be hard-wired as you suggest, and the other two can be reinforced/patched up with some cyanoacrylate. Not ideal, but it seems that options are limited.

I recently bought in a "Home Depot"- type store in Germany a clear acrylic glue named "Bondic".
It instantly sets up rock-hard and clear with exposure to ultraviolet rays from an LED lamp, included in the package.

Sort of like the quick-setting adhesive dentists use. Something like this would be an ideal former/filler/adhesive for your dilapidated switches, and it's also instantly sandable:
